Why Playboxes?
  • There are many reasons why this helps our community get more active:
  •  Lack of money – buying toys and equipment to play with outside isn’t within the financial reach of many families in the Comox Valley.   
  • Lack of convenience of programs – signing kids up for programs can present a number of barriers for parents such as cost, location and scheduling.    Isolation – with busy schedules, lack of interaction with neighbors, and/or lack of family close-by, social isolation is becoming a significant problem in our community.
  • Not only does this lead to social isolation, it also starts to erode the fabric of our sense of community and belonging.

PLAYBOX AT THE CVRD’S GOOSE SPIT PARK
Goose Spit park is busy in spring and summer with approximately 173,000 visitors to the park between May and September. The plan is to install a Playbox in late spring, early summmer.
Families can access the Playbox for free, anytime they want during park hours. The box will have a lock, and families can find  the code to the lock on Active Comox Valley's website. Inside the box they will find instructions for many games, and equipment to play those games – or to make up their own activities with. It’s fun, free and social.
These items are borrowed on the honour system and are to be returned to the playbox after individuals are done playing with them.

CODE to Unleash the Fun: 5210
please remember to return items back into the box after you use them and  lock the box behind you.

ENTER CODE then PUSH DOWN ON TOP OF LOCK AND THEN PULL BASE DOWN
